George A. Thompson

General Manager

Dr. Thompson is a seasoned healthcare executive with a blend of clinical and administrative experience. His leadership career includes financial, operations and business development responsibilities across the healthcare continuum including inpatient physical rehabilitation, neurobehavioral brain injury rehabilitation, sub-acute care, geriatric care and hospice. Dr. Thompson joined MileStone Healthcare in 2013 and also serves as a Joint Commission Surveyor. George completed his undergraduate training in Psychology and Sociology at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with post-graduate degrees from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, specializing in Behavior Medicine, Performance Engineering, Organizational Behavior Systems Management and Education of the Severely Multiply Impaired. Post-doctoral study in Marketing and Finance was completed at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Gail Grace

Regional Director of Operations

Ms. Grace, with MileStone since 1997, offers more than 20 years experience in the implementation and management of post-acute rehabilitation services. Her experience includes pre-opening planning, survey preparation, program development, case management, payor contracting, and marketing. Her long-standing history with the preparation of claims appeals across the post-acute continuum provides our clients with a thorough, “hands-on” understanding of the process and a proven track record – especially relevant with the increasing regulatory oversight and claims scrutiny. Gail received a Bachelor Degree in Health Services Administration from Arkansas State University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Arkansas.

Lana Buley

Director of Operations

Ms. Buley has been with MileStone since 1993 providing operational leadership, talent acquisition, personnel staffing and recruiting services. Working closely with the management team, Lana remains focused on ensuring fluid daily operations across all divisions of MileStone. In addition to her role in operations, she is responsible for the recruiting of physicians, executives, managers, and clinicians nationwide. With over 24 years of talent acquisition experience, Lana manages the entire recruitment process from start to finish including sourcing, screening, interviews, and employment offers. With strengths in communication and customer service, her commitment to employees and clients is evident in her enthusiasm and optimism.

Kim Good

Regional Director of Operations

Kim began her career with MileStone in 1989 leading the in our Therapy Services Division. Her responsibilities were expanded to include program management in post-acute environments. Kim’s expertise in managing hospital-based therapy, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing, inpatient rehabilitation and behavioral health units allows her to design solutions and foster collaboration throughout the healthcare continuum. Her reputation with clients is grounded in her skills for effective analysis and strategic intervention. Kim is a Certified Instructor in Safety-Care Behavioral Safety Training.

Karen Hickey

Program Development and Support Specialist

Karen holds over 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in post-acute settings including SNF, IRF and Behavioral Health. She has served in the capacity of Program Director for both Rehab and Behavioral Health and as a CNO for a rural hospital with a Senior Behavioral Health focus. Karen has provided leadership and hands-on support for inpatient program implementations as well as a free-standing Specialty Hospital. Her strengths include nursing leadership acumen, program development and team building. Karen obtained her nursing degree from Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio.

L. Douglas Hall

Regional Director of Operations

With over 25 years of executive experience in post-acute healthcare, Doug joined the MileStone team in May of 2014. In the past, he has held key leadership positions in the areas of Acute Rehabilitation (Inpatient and Outpatient), Skilled Nursing, Home Health, Hospice, Home Infusion and Contracting. These roles have encompassed Operations, New Product Development, Continuum Development, Customer Satisfaction, Outcomes Management with Business Development being the key to his success. With experience in large and small companies, both public and private, Doug brings a working operational knowledge of our customer’s unique situations. Doug holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Georgia.

Rose Brungardt

Program Development and Support Specialist

Rose joined MileStone Healthcare as a consultant for Inpatient Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing product lines. With over 40 years of experience in the health care industry, Rose has functioned in multiple, diverse roles including Program Director (Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit), Manager of Medical Review Unit (Insurance Company), Assistant Professor of Nursing (Academia) and, a Director of Nursing in the Long Term Care industry. Rose received her Diploma in Nursing as well as Bachelor Degree in Nursing with Master’s Degrees in both Science and Nursing. She holds certifications as a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN); Certified Case Manager (CCM); and, a Certified Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC-CT).

Kim S. Jacobs

Director of Business Development

Ms. Jacobs has over 30 years of progressive healthcare experience in marketing, referral and business development, as well as staff development. Kim is results-focused and known for her ability to transform marketing staff into outstanding leaders in referral development. Her experience includes clinical delivery and encompasses both acute and post-acute arenas where she held several leadership positions. Ms. Jacobs received her Respiratory Therapy credential from Florence-Darlington Technical College and most recently served as Regional Manager of Marketing Development for a large, privately-held, Post-Acute Care Company.

Karen Cotner

Program Development and Support Specialist

Ms. Cotner has a progressive career as a healthcare leader, Occupational Therapist and as an Adjunct Lecturer for Indiana University. Karen’s work settings include acute care hospitals, outpatient clinics, inpatient rehabilitation units, behavioral health and skilled nursing facilities. She has a strong background in developing, organizing and evaluating patient care programs and operating systems leading clinical teams and physicians to desired outcomes. Karen attended Indiana University achieving dual bachelor degrees in Occupational Therapy and Psychology with a Master in Health Administration.

Amy Heilmann-Rocco

Program Development and Support Specialist

Amy has over 35 years of experience as a physical therapist. She has owned and operated several Outpatient Therapy and Wellness Centers managing additional outpatient rehabilitation clinics including Industrial Rehab and several inpatient and outpatient therapy service contracts while continuing to treat patients. Amy assisted in the opening of an Orthopedic Specialty Hospital including design, work flow and regulatory compliance. Her strengths include up-to-date clinical skills, documentation and billing expertise, therapist education / skills competencies and cost effective clinic management strategies that support both quality patient care and regulatory requirements. Amy received her undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy and completed studies toward a Master in Health Administration from The Ohio State University.

Patricia Greene

Program Development and Support Specialist

Ms. Greene is a RN with over 30 years of nursing experience with 20 years in healthcare leadership. She is a Certified Coder. Pat has extensive knowledge, expertise, and experience in Clinical Quality and Risk Management and has served as both a Chief Quality Officer and Chief Nursing Officer for several Hospitals with both Inpatient Rehabilitation and Behavioral Health units. Ms. Greene has significant experience in The Joint Commission accreditation process, CMS Quality Reporting, and CDI for physicians. Pat is known as a collaborator engaging with cross-functional teams striving to meet the needs of patients in challenging environments. Pat received her nursing degree from Excelsior College in Albany, New York.

Miranda Lockhart

Senior Human Resources Director

Ms. Lockhart has been with MileStone since 1999 providing Human Resources Services and Support.  Miranda’s broad experience includes benefits, employee relations, compliance reporting, and performance management.  She remains engaged with managers and employees, providing policy process and structure to create a great MileStone Team. Miranda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Cameron University and is also a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).

Luis Herrera

IS Manager

Luis Herrera joined MileStone Healthcare in 1997 and as the Information Technology Manager he is responsible for leading the company’s technology strategy and managing overall IT operations and customer service. His initiatives include improving service delivery through embracing effective and efficient use of technology; promoting online development opportunities; identifying opportunities for future technology enhancements; and leading strategic initiatives to transform the technology department to be flexible, adaptable and responsive to customer needs.  Mr. Herrera also implemented and continues to oversee MileStone’s own tracker and census software, ensuring a smooth interface with our clients’ network systems.
